ICM ALERT:

HOME BASEMENT STRIP CLUB FOUND IN GWINNETT COUNTY ARREST

Tuesday, July 28, 2009--Several news agencies reported today that on July 18, as the result of an investigation of a "loud party" at 1437 Purcell Road, Lawrenceville, GA, police found what appeared to be a home basement "gentlemen's club" or "strip club." According to neighbors, several minors were reported to have been at the residence during the time of the "party."   Alcohol and drugs were found at the scene.

Incidents like these illuminate the continued need for the faith community to engage in the lives of the children in our neighborhoods and offer safe havens of hope. We cannot look out of our windows and pretend that all is right with the world.

ICM invites you to pray for the rescue and restoration of the child victims.   We also believe that prayer is needed for the perpetrators in order that the woman who ran the "alleged" strip club and the "clients" who participated will understand the damage they have caused to so many young lives.

After prayer, we must commit ourselves to action.  ICM has been fighting for services and legislation for child victims of sexual exploitation.  Each faith community can participate by opening your doors to ICM to get educated about this issue.  Then, put your knowledge into action by determining how you can best serve the children who have been victimized.  ICM can help you--contact us!

Furthermore, this incident serves to dispel the myth that child prostitution and trafficking in Georgia is "just an Atlanta problem."  These children were allegedly victimized in the home of a suburban neighborhood in one of Georgia's most prominent counties.

Senator Renee Unterman was scheduled to hold a press conference earlier this afternoon at the Gwinnett County Jail to underline and emphasize the importance of eliminating child sexual exploitation in Georgia.

Legislative Action:
